Today in the Huffington Post lawmakers in Rhode Island have put forward legislation to end Marijuana Prohibition. this is what democratic state senator Joshua Miller sponsor of the Bill was quoted saying “Marijuana prohibition is an ineffective and wasteful policy, and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer, the legislature is perfectly capable of creating a system that will work for Rhode Island.”Despite a 2014 poll of 50 percent in favor of recreational marijuana it’s still a “wait and see approach” by state lawmakers. If passed by voter referendums Rhode Island would be the fifth state and D.C. to legalize recreational marijuana. Vermont and Maryland have followed suit by introducing bills similar to rhode Island for recreational use.
Also, in trenton New Jersey this spring according to local CBS news in Philadelphia there plans for a Million Joint March leading to a large Smoke Out at the State House by a group consisting of politicians to medical marijuana patients and Grandmas. At 2P.M. the march will start at Trenton Riverline Station and makes its way to the State House where at 4:20 P.M. the smoke out will take place in a nonviolent act of civil disobedience.
It appears the New England states are joining the green rush perhaps inspired by Washington DC move for full legalization last week.
